Besides cotton sheets, I like to use 100% cotton scrub tops. Depending on the style, they can yield quite a bit of usable fabric (especially scrub jackets.) And they come in a multitude of prints.
Last week the St.Vincent DePaul by me had all of their yellow tag clothing 5 for $5.00, and I got a bunch of scrub tops that I cut apart and am going to use for a dark/light HST scrappy that I'm planning to make (someday.
