I think I am seeing how this should work. And it does sound simple, and logical. I was doing strip sets of 3 stripes, and then combining them, badly. And the seams were clashing on the back, and just all sorts of disasters....
Strip sets of 6...of course! (NOW that seems obvious.) I need more sleep. Thank you everyone!
