I have to try to figure it out first.. if we sew two 2.5" squares on the diagonal and trim the seam to 1/4 " it should be ok??? right. I can't seem to get it right now...my brain is fried from repiecing 32 star blocks that were all different sizes. for a wounded warriors quilt raffle.. I will try it tonite...I would like to use the med & med dark scrappies for the primary star.. after that?? I'm not sure..H.
I've been doing it because I really want to use my 'candies' and not cut anything new. I sew the two together on the diagonal, but just inside the line so when I press the bigger side back it will fit. I press it to the corner of the block under it before I cut off the excess, leaving the 1/4" seam. It works fine, but there's a lot of waste. I don't save the tiny triangles I trim off.
