Make a full size drawing of your design. Longer pieces need fewer joins but if you plan correctly they can go under the line crossovers. If the background fabric is light, you can put your drawing underneath to trace and then place the strips. If you are using dark fabric you will need to transfer the design plan to the surface of your fabric.
