I got home last night at about 5PM. Things went very well. Better than expected actually. I brought the quilt with me and it was perfect. The size is perfect for someone to cover up with when in a hospital bed. The quilt also received A LOT of favorable comments from the various people coming in and out of my room.
I'm taking the same amount of pain meds as I did before my surgery but my pain is zero. My pain never was completely gone before and I'm not even near done healing yet. I think in time I won't need any pain meds any more. It's something to look forward to. I'm also getting around ok and that will only get better in time and when I get fitted for a new leg as well. Another benefit: I've spent the better part of the last 4 years with at least some long term open wounds with some serious odor issues. Think "Roadkill". The smell is gone. I also expect complete healing this time and no more open wounds in the future.
My wife and I were talking and looking back this is a decision that I probably should have made sooner. The benefits just so far outweigh the inconvenience of losing what was at best a marginal leg.
Thank you again everyone for the quilt. I used it the entire time I was in the hospital and it's nice knowing I have so many friends looking out for me.
