Love to read how everyone has made the process work best for them.......good ides.......I bought the acrylic template to match the hexie size from PaperPieces.com. I line it because it has a 3/8" seam allowance, that little bit makes a difference and I have discovered the sewline glue pen......the hexies pop out easily......I too have made a paper punch hole in the center of the paper hexies......noticed that JAF is now offering hexies by Dritz. I bought a pack of the 1 1/2" size to do mickey depre pieced hexies.......
Then I'm going to try Lucy Boston's patchwork of the crosses.....millefiori-maybe..........
