I really like the first one. Looks like the real thing. Easy enough to make the pattern for a finished 12.5" block. Make a grid of 2.5" blocks (5 across and 5 down) and draw your pattern then add the 1/4" seam allowances on all sides of the pieces. The long rectangles look like they are snowballed with 2.5" (plus1/4" SA) squares so cut 3" squares. If you look at the upper right, it is easy to do with the grid.
