I have one that will probably get a repaint but it's going to be a while before I start.
It does look like the hole was drilled at an angle. My guess is so that the parts can only go together one way. Pretty clever, really. Other options to keep things from being put together backwards probably would have cost more time and money. I've torn into one White Rotary and I'm impressed with how solid of a machine they are.
