Default OMG. Guess what I found?!?!?!?

I checked just a couple yard sales Friday and found a black Singer 301 in a desk. It was pretty dirty and the desk needs work that's for sure. The woman selling it was a fierce negotiator and wasn't willing to part with it for less than 75.00. I MUST have too many machines because I passed on it. I figured I would check back and if it was still there today MAYBE she would take less.

So, I went back today figuring it would be gone for sure. It was still there, back in the garage, and the woman was putting things away and telling people that the yard sale wasn't supposed to still be on today.

Cautiously I approached. She didn't recognize me from Friday so I had a fresh start to negotiate. Today she wasn't interested in letting it go for less than 85.00. *sigh.
We bargained back and forth. I asked to plug it in. The motor wasn't strong but we all know it'll do better after a good cleaning.

We finally came to terms...meaning she lowered the price a hair and I had the choice to buy it or walk away. She wasn't going to budge one penny more. I decided I wanted it. I bought it. Hubby was with me and helped wrangle the desk into the back seat of my Honda.

So, I get it home and do the usual, take pictures to document the new machine and get a few snaps of the desk.

The serial number is low. Interesting. I hurry in to my laptop to look on the Singer 301 site--that one that talks about the "Limited Edition" Singer 301's. http://singer301.com/limited/default.html

OMG. It IS a LIMITED EDITION Singer 301. I am freaking out I am so excited!! It is not one with a blue centennial badge. It has the black, but it is one of the 10,000 issued in 1951.

WOW.. Happy Mother's Day to me!
