Yeah, Western Electric made the motors and another company, often National, made the sewing machine. As for the bobbins, I know Singer bobbins are shorter, they might fit the shuttle you need. And some bobbins had brass ends that where simply pressed on so if they're too long you can push one end further down the shaft and cut off the excess. I did it with a shuttle I didn't have a bobbin for, worked great.
