I think the little hole on the inside edge does engage a little pin on the winder like the class 15 notch though. The biggest problem I've had is the cheap new 66 bobbins are narrower at the rim than the vintage ones. They don't always fit the bobbin winder correctly though they work ok in the machine once they're filled.
