The longarm prices I've seen started at $.015 and went up to around $.04 per square inch, more for really dense quilting. You are essentially paying for the longarmer's time and skill. It takes more time, and more skill, to quilt designs that enhance your quilt, as opposed to quilting that just holds it together. For a carpenter's star, with its distinctive design, I would want quilting that enhanced the quilt without being too dense.
