In one of the quilting books I've read -- I think it was by Harriet Hargrave -- the author advocated the term 'studio' because she wanted quilting to be respected as an art, and for quilters to respect their quiltmaking as an art. I think 'quilting studio' is a more specific term, and would probably fit my space better than 'sewing room', as I don't do other kinds of sewing (but I still use 'sewing room').
