Line up the straight edge and sew the two together. The little bunny ears stay and then you sew on the other triangle. The reason they make it larger is there needs to be a quarter inch or more there after the blocks are made, so you don't sew off the nice sharp points when you are finished and adding the next row. Does that make sense? You don't want the points to come to the very tip of the block.
