I also have those plastic clips-never used them. The same is true with the John Flynn set-up. Have several Martelli products that I questioned after I got them. Discovered their web site, once you get past the learning curve their products really do work well. I must have watched their ruler demo 40 times before I got the hang of it. I LOVE their cutting mat. Had an Alto, sold it.
