Yes; the machine is a short shank zig-zag. It makes straight, zig-zag, and blind-stitch stitches; it has a "reverse" button and that's about it for its repertory!

Here's a photo of the owner's manual page showing the Blindstitch Hem Guide in the lower left corner.

I purchased a similar one from eBay, but the U-opening that slides under the presser foot screw (attachment point!) faces "down" on the one I bought. The one illustrated for the 252 points to the back. I'd love to find one of the original ones. Your explanation is far easier to understand!

I've been searching for feet and accessories for the three older machines and had noticed that some identical looking Singer feet could have different numbers. I wondered what was up with that. My Pfaff 130 had several Singer feet mixed in with the box of Pfaff Pfeet. (Sorry; I just love the Pfine Pfaff spelling!)
