Hi there, I have looked at the photo again and it is definitely centered. Because the finished block is 11 1/2" the center of it is on intersecting 1/4" lines, which is distracting. This is the very reason that I like to use the tape. I had to find a way to reduce the margin of error after miscutting blocks here and there
