pettthefabric, I compared the thread to some others I had that were 50 and it is thinner, don't know why I didn't compare before, it is also a bit thinner than the maxilock thread but that could be my eye site, thanks so much. I think I will use it as bobbin thread on my art pieces instead of using it on a quilt, I don't really want to put the work into one and have the thread give up on it.

It's my understanding that TEX refers to strength and Wt refers to size. A TEX (strength) 21 is OK for piecing but might break. If that truely is the size-it's way to big for piecing. I prefer 50 or 60 wt and use a full 1/4" seam. If I'm desperate, I'll use 40 with a scant 1/4" seam.
