My DH and I almost always did our shopping together: time together; we both ate the food and would help with the chore; he helped lift things. But before he passed away we did almost all things together.
As for fabric shopping he would sometimes go with me, but if he didn't go he was always willing to look at what I bought. We both knew what our budget was and what we had to spend on things.
