It is really easy. The pattern recommends different sizes depending on the size of the quilt: 3 1/2"x9" for larger quilts OR 2"x5" for smaller quilts. Decide which size fits your design preference, then cut one set of that size in dark colors and one set in light colors. I used primarily scraps but it is really a great use for FQs as well.

Lay them out in dark and light piles. Then sew a light piece to a dark piece with a miter. Likewise sew a dark piece on a light piece with a miter. When those done, sew them in alternating order light over dark for one row, and dark over light for the next row. I sewed long strips of 2 pairs then joined the long strips.

Hope that helps. It is really easy. One thing to make sure is to have All The Miters going the same direction.
