I wash on the gentle cycle; no raveling, no tangles, and, most importantly, no time wasting prep. On the rare occasion that there are a few loose edge threads after washing, I clip them before putting the fabric in the dryer and everything comes out neat and smooth. I can tell pre-washed fabric by the slightly fuzzy cut edges and the softer hand.
