If you take a scrap of spare fabric and cut the shape of the purple fabric, then put that central snip in it to the pivot point, you will be able to pull it into a straight line. You can then see how it is possible to sew another patch to it, there is just the problem of folding the bulk out of the way while you do the sewing.
