I buy fat quarters because they are easy to cut into block pieces. I don't like a lot of yardage to deal with. I know I can buy a yard of fabric and cut my own to size but I don't want to. I'd rather buy four fat quarters of the same fabric then one yard of it. Many will say but a yard is cheaper, may be, but if I had to worry about a few extra dollars spent I wouldn't be quilting anyway. I buy yardage for backing and borders.
