i think you'd run into a battery charge problem. a good iron needs major juice that a charge might only last an hour or so.

how about those seam roller things, i use it all the time when i paper piece, i don't press between each fabric strip like some people do.

Actually, I wonder if an old fashioned "heat on the coal range" type contraption would work. My in-laws probably have one, their place is like a museum!
here's a seam roller but i think you could just pick up a wallpaper roller at the hardware store and it would do the same thing.

you know how they tell you to press between each piece of fabric when paper piecing - well i don't do that, i just use this roller thing to help fold the piece over.
That would save so much time!
