I'm getting ready to make my 1st disappearing hourglass quilt for an elderly lady I know down in Florida. She's zany and likes bright, wild colors so thought she would be a perfect candidate for a "red hat ladies" quilt. So I pulled out 8 bright reds and 8 purples to go with this fabric that has both colors in it that will be used for the border. Yes, I like borders on all my quilts. It will only be a over sized lap quilt as she's in her high 80's now and I doubt if she would want a huge quilt.
I like your rendition with the sashings but I think this time I'll be making this one without. This pattern seems to look great either way.
