Gramajo, GAYG is a blanket term that covers about a dozed different techniques. Some use sashing, some don't. Some require hand finishing, some don't. Some you do block by block, some you complete the top first, some you do in sections.
Not sure exactly which technique you are referring to, but there are techniques where you do the whole thing by machine, like Sharon Pederson's book Reversible Quilts: Two at a Time
