Don't feel bad... I discovered the advice "measure twice, cut once" doesn't help if you cut from the wrong color. I bought a kit from Connecting threads, ordered required amount of discontinued fabric to also make in different color scheme and decided to make that one first. Directions were in color so I cleverly made copy of all 6 fabrics and pasted little squares on copy of kit sheet. After I cut everything and began sewing I discovered I would be sewing nearly identical shades of blue together instead of white to blue. Fortunately I had enough fabric to correct... so far.
