I love pin cushions and I have made several different types. I found this tutorial

I did make mine a little different, I used a hammer and nail to start the holes in the cap, enlarged them with the tips of scissors and filed the rough edges with a rasp. I used a pony tail tie for the elastic which worked fine and I used fabric for the sides of the cap because I didn't have any pretty ribbon that fit. I will be making more of these, I know my DD needs at least one.
