My construction of this quilt was a little different than the traditional one (Everything I make seems to be a variation!). I have sixteen-patches on hand (thanks to a generous gift of 3.5" squares from a QB member), so I made the chevron blocks with half-square triangles and put the quilt together using the sixteens and the chevron units. Rather than using a solid for the diamonds, I went with a light calico. Everything is from scraps and from stash--it measures 86" x 86". I did simple, straight line quilting, and I added a red binding to pick up some of the reds in the quilt.
One of my sisters loves calico, so I think she will like this one--plenty of calico to go around!
