I didn't have luck with Sharpies (saw a quilt I had made that gets used and washed alot. Can SEE the words...cannot READ the words!) and Pigma ran for me and then washed out even after heat setting. I settled on a fabric marker. Found it in the t-shirt decorating section of Michaels. I like the thin point best and the brand is Fabrico. As always, try out a few and see what works for YOU. JMHO
