I don't know the answer to your question but I do know that you can quilt on your embroidery machine. You would have to mark out a grid and hoop in the center of each box making sure it is centered, but it should work. Test it before you do it to your quilt.
That's what I had been doing, but it's so much easier on my longarm. Just wanted the best of both worlds.
