I am working on a BOM which has both appliqued and pieced blocks. The section I am working on now looks like a lattice. I have 4 sets of 64 HSTs sewn, with 3 sets trimmed to size (I cut large and trim down rather than futzing with cutting 7/8"). The last set of 64 has been sewn, but not trimmed. None of these have been ironed open yet. As I work on each set of 64, I do whatever step I'm on, then they go into a zip lock bag, along with any extra fabric. So far, I've lost at least one square of fabric and/or one HST in every set, so the extra fabric is a lifesaver. When I have to stop, everything goes into a 13x13x3 storage case from JAF, including the blocks I have finished, the BOM blocks I haven't started, and the book. I won't press the HSTs until I start assembling blocks, at which time I will lay out the HSTs according to the book on my extra 12x18 cutting mat, then will sew one block at a time together. I have a tool "book" made from a free Craftsy pattern (called a Tooly) which gets bungeed on the outside of the storage box.
