I have always felt that quilting was very similar to fishing. Quilting, you have lots of toys/tools of the trade, cutters, rulers, etc...fishing same thing...lures, reels, creels, rods, lines, bate..etc. Quilting: you spend a lot of time quilting...hanging out in sewing space rather than cooking, cleaning, working...fishing: you spend a lot of time in fishing space rather than cooking, cleaning, working at any thing else. Quilting and fishing; you eat sleep and breath it, hanging with like minded folks, talking, bragging, sharing war stories. But most importantly while quilters could buy a blanket...fishers could buy a fish...
