I was at a Goodwill today and saw an Anker Gloria sewing machine. It looked to be a 3/4 size and was fairly lightweight, but also seemed to be at least mostly metal. It was only $10, but didn't have a cord, and since its German, not sure the cord would even work here! It did have the bobbin but the handwheel was stuck. I found this pic online.
