If you have $25 to blow, I'd definitely say it's worth it. If you take it to the shop, you may find it's simple fix and will cost very little. OTOH, if you get an estimate for a lot of money, you could always list it on Craiglist or something for parts and hopefully get your $25 (or more) back. I hope you get what's behind door #1.
