Yes, it really does. I can put a HST on the board, drag the iron across it exactly like you're NOT supposed to, and it won't move or distort at all.
It is a little on the expensive side, but if you like to make projects with lots of bias edges, forget to "press" instead of "iron", or just want to treat yourself to a nifty quilting aid, then go for it.
