I have been using elmers school glue for over a year on my bindings for quilts etc, as long as you heat set the glue there isn't a problem. Sharon Schambers method is the best for bindings that I have tried. Following her procedure you do not need pins to hold the binding to the quilt as you stitch it on and when I turn the binding to the front I glue it again before I use a decorative stitch to stitch it down. Have never had a problem with the machine or needles with the elmers so far. When doing the Betty Cotton Theory you stitch the binding to the back and bring it to the front and use a decorative stitch. For other quilts I glue the binding to the front stitch it down and turn to the back andglue it down then just hand stitch . Never had a problem with the hand stitching either. Washes out when the project is washed.
