I like Moda's solid more so than Kona as once I used a Kona solid and it shrunk like the dickens and bled too. Instead of solids though have you thought about a blender fabric? I like Maywoods "ShadowPlay" and Connecting Threads "Mirage". Both can be considered a solid with a little texture to them. They almost look exact too when you put them side by side so I keep them on the same shelf together. With Connecting Threads you can't beat the price either. I have their entire collection and 30 yds of their cream for background use.
