One of my quilt guild friends made cute ones buy cutting squares (hers looked about 8") of the theme fabric, then surrounding them with blocks of the same size made with 3 strips sewn together like a rail fence design. By orienting the colors in these strips touching the theme fabric blocks so the same color touches the center square on all sides, the squares look framed. Really cute and simple.
