I took a bristle off of an old brush (fairly stiff bristles) and glued one end of it to the take-up lever pointing so that the thread could pass by it going in, but not coming out. It worked, and was barely noticeable.
Sounds like a good idea. I can't believe how straight that machine sews so I do like using it.
