I start on the middle and do a little of both. When I get tired of doing the blocks, switch to the sashing and visa versa. But I go from center outward in all directions and leave the border until last. That way, if there's any slack anywhere, it's worked its way out as I go.
i do mine the same way, from the center of the quilt out. it's how i learned from books & i've ne er seen any other method in a book. i learned before there was a youtube
