I use a specific foot for decorative design. ( a satin sitch one will work as well ) .However if its a straight stitch, serpantine curve I use my walking foot.I also do binding w/walking foot. It prevents puckering on underside. If I was good at FMQ then an open toe foot. Alas I am not, so avoid it but if I could stipple decently thats what I would do.
