That was during the industrial revolution and the "Patent Wars" Singer and all of the other sewing machine companies were always stealing each others Ideas so everytime a patent was running out they would reapply for the patent.
Your machine is a few years older than mine (by 9 years) but you have the most sought after and rarer decal pattern. It is a beautiful machine indeed!!
