How about borders the size you need on the sides and a much narrower border on the bottom (and possibly the top) just for continuity?

I think borders would help to draw up or ease the bias edges of your piecing if needed. They would give a little opportunity for shaping the edge. I can't tell from your picture whether or not that is needed. I simply find a bias edge hard to control.
