I saw the free pattern and tutorial for these cute little wallets and the lanyards on SewCanShe, who found the pattern on The Sewing Loft......just to give full credit where credit(s) are due. These are not my idea or invention.
Making these became addictive and before I knew it I had made 8, with accompanying lanyards. Until this project I was not acquainted with fusible fleece, but I love that stuff! And to my amazement I already had a roll of the iron on interfacing tape for the lanyards. I did have to go buy the rings and the clasps, of course. I attached the clasps to the wallet instead of to the lanyard because the tutorial suggested they can be hooked to belt loops on pants or shorts. The wallets are for when carrying a purse is not desirable, and are meant to hold credit cards, or folded bills, or maybe some loose change, though since they only snap, change could be lost, I guess. The finished size (closed) is 5 inches by 3 1/2 inches.
But I confess now that I have 8 made, I have no idea who I'll give them to. I think young women or girls would appreciate and use them more than older women. But what do I know?
Anyway, they were fun and quick to make! And I offer them here as an idea for a quick gift. The pattern is available for free download at SewCanShe.
