When people buy used, they are taking a risk. Even items listed in excellent condition can have broken parts. That is why you really can't expect to get what you paid. Many times they can get the same items new for less than you paid.
if you sell on eBay you get "what the market will bear". Normally this is a fair price. That is why eBay is a good indication of an items worth. After you find the item, filter on sold items.
