People who do not quilt do not realise just how much "prep" goes into making an item. The choosing of the item, the design,the fabrics, cutting out, sewing, arranging the blocks etc.
I couldn't agree more! I'm always surprised at how long it takes me to first decide what finished design I want, which is then rethought according to the fabrics I can find. Our part of England doesn't have many quilting shops, so I tend to shop online. I often find that while looking for fabrics I find one, or a couple, that sing out to me and then I end up rethinking the whole thing again. Then the calculations and all before lifting a cutter or a needle!
But I do find the whole process a very enjoyable way of escaping the worries and pressures of life, as I'm sure all other board members do.
