Making potholders using scraps with earth tones mixed with greens and other Christmas colors. Table runners are great gifts as well. Last year, before moving, I made one for each of my children. When finished, I used free motion signature. They said that made them special. Another year, using scraps, I made quilted Christmas cards for all my friends and pen-pals. I cut and sewed blocked and rectangular scraps as well as making a (what I found out later) was a Log Cabin design. Once I sewed the blocks/etc together, I measured them against the cards I planned to use. Cutting with rotary cutter cut down time to fit the designs to the card. Then sewed directly onto Christmas face cards saved from previous years. Some of the cards had decorative machine stitching but you have to be careful so needle doesn't cut through the paper. Found wide zigzag and straight stitching worked the best. Enjoy!
