Default Swiveling/changing direction

I'm starting to quilt another chevron quilt for another of my grandchildren. My quilting will be simple straight line stitching in an angular pattern ....3 lines "up" and "down" in a "V" inside each chevron. To do this in the last quilt I simply stopped my stitching at the appropriate point, needle down and walking foot raised, swiveled the quilt to change my angle/direction and then "off I went". My question is...is there a better or "correct" way to do this other than how I was doing it? It got pretty bulky and awkward swiveling my work about and I was wondering whether there were any tricks or rules? I'm using a Bernina 710 with a 10 inch harp and the quilt measures 65" x 90". Thanks all.
