I had my Pfaff 2134 cleaned late this summer at the shop where I bought it for about $70. When I took it in, I was having a tension problem and that had never happened before so I was quite concerned. They decided to just do a good cleaning first to see if that would resolve the problem and it did. Besides that, I mentioned that I had signed up for a class through my guild with a nationally known instructor that I would probably miss since it was only a few days away. They called the next day to say it was ready to be picked up! I was so pleased with their great service. Since you live in such a large city, I would just keep contacting Pfaff dealers to find a better price. That seems high to me. Good luck
